“Art is the journey of a free soul.”
– Abha Vaidya Jain
Your love of Nature is abundantly visible; but there also seems to be a deeper meaning of life, that is in harmony with nature and personal happiness.
– Krishan Ralleigh, India Link International
The Artist
Abha studied fine arts at the prestigious College of Fine Arts, Chandigarh, India. She worked in advertising as a visual artist before she moved to London and switched to pursuing her passion for painting. She has been creating commissioned artworks for various companies and individuals since 2016.
Iridescence, Acrylic on canvas, 122cm x 152cm
The Art
Abha paints abstract landscapes that are suffused with her intimate perceptions of the Himalayan foothills and nature. Born in Shimla, a scenic hill town, she inherited a deep connection with the lush pine forests and snow capped mountains. She is fascinated with the myriad aspects of nature having spent her childhood sketching trees and painting glorious sunsets.
The Himalayas continue to be the wellspring of her creativity. She uses colour modulations and expressive brush strokes to recreate a sense of being surrounded by nature. She also employs abstraction to orchestrate the quintessence of her subjects rather than paint mere mimesis of beautiful vistas.
Her compositions range from calm to vibrant in order to evoke emotional responses varying from introspective to dynamic. Acrylic on canvas is Abha’s chosen medium as it allows spontaneity – creating layered atmospheric experiences; mist floating through a verdant valley or a flicker of sunlight reflecting off a mountain stream.
Her oeuvre embodies the narrative that life is full of colour and discovery. Abha’s paintings are a sincere and genuine fulfilment of her artistic intent.
